My Mains from Super Smash Bros: Through the Years!

I’ve been playing Super Smash Bros since the series’ very first entry on the Nintendo 64 and for a long time, they were my favorite games. Smash Bros still remains my second favorite fighting game series, right behind Mortal Kombat and just ahead of Injustice.

During the many years and countless hours I’ve spent making Nintendo’s biggest names and their lesser known friends battle each other, I used a variety of characters to kick butt. They all had their strengths and weaknesses, with some playing more to my own strengths than others.

Some of my mains were cheap picks that I could actually survive a fight with while others were characters I was legitimately good with.

Here’s my mains from the first installment in the series to the most recent, arranged by game:

Super Smash Bros:

(full disclosure about Super Smash Bros 64 – I’ve actually never unlocked Luigi otherwise he’d probably be on this list too)

Kirby – Kirby was my favorite character in this game because I was a young child and knew his excellent recovery would help me not die.

Pikachu

Super Smash Bros Melee:

Zelda – She was the first character that I played as just because I enjoyed playing as her. Also, because of her great recovery. I’m now seeing she was also the only non-unlockable character I mained in this game.

Luigi – This guy was my absolute favorite character and I logged more hours with him than any other character in Melee or any of the other Smash games. I always wanted to play as him in Smash 64 but I could never unlock him.

Link – Although I spent less time with this game than many of others in the series, the majority of the time I did play was as Link. I loved most of the new additions in this game but I chose to keep it back to basics with Link.

Bowser Jr. – The Koopalings have always been some of my favorite Nintendo characters so of course I jumped at the chance to play as each one.
