(Unlikely) Nintendo 64 Mini Wishlist

I was in the first grade when I received my Nintendo 64 – along with Cruis’n World, Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Diddy Kong Racing – for Christmas and I was living the dream.

The Nintendo 64 was the first video game console my family had that was specifically bought for me. I’d borrowed and played my uncle’s NES and GameBoy but they always had to be given back to him after a while.

For this reason, I sometimes get hit with the nostalgia wave for the N64. I remember loving the controller’s unique shape and the fact that it was available in so many colors! I always played with the blue one while my younger siblings had to play with the standard gray controller.

Disregarding my occasional nostalgia blinders, the N64 did provide players with the firsts in multiple gaming franchises that have gone on to be hugely successful – Super Smash Bros, Mario Party, Paper Mario – and the singular title in franchises that should’ve been – Diddy Kong Racing.

With 2016’s release of the Classic NES Mini, I started thinking about what games I would want to see on an N64 Mini and it was surprisingly easy to come up with 30 games to be included.

Let me be clear here, I absolutely do not believe this will ever exist but it’s fun to think about.

This list is made up of a variety of games, from type of game to my personal feelings about them – some are games I love, some are games I’ve played, some are games I never played but wanted to and some are just considered Nintendo 64 classic that it felt wrong to exclude.

In no particular order, here are the 30 games (completely disregarding any rights issues) that I would want to see on an extremely hypothetical Nintendo 64 Mini:
